There are 6 images in this galleryThu, 07/30/2009 - 15:19Dolton hazmat box 1499 on the Bishop Ford Expressway at Dolton Road, July 22 , 2009, 07:00. The tank truck split in the middle leaking material on to the roadway. Dolton called MABAS 24 to respond. The material in the tank truck was transferred to another tanker as quickly and safely as possible. The tanker was placarded corrosive and HOT.

There are 5 images in this galleryWed, 01/07/2009 - 16:37Recently 14 of our members attend the IFSI Hazmat Tech B class in Tinley Park. All passed the 40 hour two weekend class successfully. The MABAS 24 team now has a total of 26 tech B's and 20 tech A's. Also, 14 members are Hazmat Incident Command State Certified. Many of our members have also gone to other classes with Homeland Security, the National Fire Academy and other outside agencies. The MABAS 24 Hazmat Team members are always looking at ways to increase and enhance their skills and knowledge. MABAS 24 HAZMAT is ready to serve the division as well as any other call for assistance.

There are 4 images in this galleryWed, 01/07/2009 - 16:24The truck involved was carrying hazardous materials. There was some small leakage of flammable liquid and some corrosive materials. The remainder of the cargo was up-righted and secured. A leaking drum was over-packed.

Their assignment was a terrorist attack a at chemical facility in Summit Illinois. This all day event was to prepare and practice for state wide response procedures.

There are 6 images in this galleryWed, 01/07/2009 - 17:08On November 17, 2007 the MABAS 24 hazardous materials team participated at a combined agency drill at the Joliet Chicago land speedway. The scenario has terrorist related with multiple devices and teams working together to mitigate the situation. Teams included MABAS 10, Joliet FD Hazmat, Grundy County EMA, Will County EMA, the Army CST unit and our own MABAS 24 team. MABAS 24 and MABAS 10 worked together as a team and did a great job. These are a few photos of the operation.
