Please support our Canteen fundraiser.   Firefighting and emergency services operations can be very strenuous.  The amount of time at an incident can vary from a few minutes to many hours.  Add temperature extremes and weather conditions and it can become debilitating and possibly deadly to personnel on the scene.

November 17, 2007 Combined Agency Drill

On November 17, 2007 the MABAS 24 hazardous materials team participated at a combined agency drill at the Joliet Chicago land speedway. The scenario has terrorist related with multiple devices and teams working together to mitigate the situation. Teams included MABAS 10, Joliet FD Hazmat, Grundy County EMA, Will County EMA, the Army CST unit and our own MABAS 24 team. MABAS 24 and MABAS 10 worked together as a team and did a great job. MABAS 24 Hazmat Techs

Recently 14 of our members attend the IFSI Hazmat Tech B class in Tinley Park. All passed the 40 hour two weekend class successfully. The MABAS 24 team now has a total of 26 tech B's and 20 tech A's. Also, 14 members are Hazmat Incident Command State Certified. Many of our members have also gone to other classes with Homeland Security, the National Fire Academy and other outside agencies. The MABAS 24 Hazmat Team members are always looking at ways to increase and enhance their skills and knowledge. MABAS 24 HAZMAT is ready to serve the division as well as any other call for assistance.

May 3, 2006 State-Wide Drill

On May 3, 2006, 11 members of the MABAS 24 Hazmat team participated in the state-wide drill. Their assignment was a terrorist attack a at chemical facility in Summit Illinois. This all day event was to prepare and practice for state wide response procedures.
